Tfw ppl even consider that a feeler is more thinking in a rational sense than an actual thinking type. but ofc ESTPs R DUM STUPID MEANIES WHO BULLIED ME AT SCHOOL THEY DONT THINK!!
intuition =/= rationality, or even “thinking” in general, it’s just a way of processing information that differs from sensing types’ way of doing so
introversion correlates to more introspection and “being in their heads”, but since they’re feeling types (and also perceivers) they’re gonna be mostly aimlessly thinking abt their feelz, how stuff relates to them, how to express themselves or some shit. so ESTP is the obvious answer here

    Thinking - INFP
rational - kind of a toss up. ESTPs are ragingly stupid but INFPs are too emotional to really do anything with their thinking.

I think both are essentially rational but both don't care about rational and don't base their life on appeasing their rationality like NTs do.

ESTP are Ti aux so they care about rationality.

      That doesn't really matter
they're more common sense than actually thinking, they're rational to the extent that they value thinking more than feeling and that's pretty much it
of course there's been historical ESTPs who were inclined to ruminate and analyze but ESTPs are much more commonly schoolyard bullies and frat boys

Rationalism is much more than being matter of fact, it takes thinking and making connections that aren't plain to see for everyone, i.e. common sense

Jeez for an INTJ 5w6 i would think you'd look deeper rather than rely on stereotypes

      You'd think so
hard not to generalize when you're trying to weight two types against one another based on a theory that's meant to categorize every living person into 16 subtypes
i'm not calling ESTPs stupid or 100% body over mind but their whole modus operandi is being brash and forthright. i like ESTPs, they can be clever and interesting, it's just not their disposition to be very analytical or deeply thinking

Have you considered that the second half of "stereotype" is "type"?

XSTP often seek rationality as common sense (unlike xNTP), that's why they often agreed with the doxa of "be cruel because injustice permit you to survive, it 's natural" ==> social darwinism (btw social darwinism is bullshit because darwin said himself generosity was a characteristic selected by evolution and permit to species to survive longer ). but even if their definition of rationality is shitty they seek it.

      @isn't anything

and about stereotypes, sure they are "part" of the type, all stereotypes exist for a reason but correlation does not equal causation. just because someone might be a straight-forward frat boy doesn't mean they are ESTP (i'm sure ESFPs, ESTJs, and ISTPs are also represented on that whole frat culture) and another thing fella, tell me why ESTJ (while sharing 3 letters with ESTP) are a completely different stereotype (aggressive rule-abiding and enforcing normie) even valuing something completely different than the ESTP? the only thing they seem to share is masculinity lol

and to the rest of you letter dickriders, maybe this means that functions are as equally valid as letters? :) just a passing thought...

@mike I didn’t mean to like that last comment so now here we go

do u think ESTPs n ESTJs r rly that much different? And “rule-abiding” means they follow their own rules strictly, regardless of the establishment’s rules. Saying that they’re simply rule-abiding + rule-enforcing normies makes it sound like no ESTJ (ISTJs get it worse, but still) would ever rebel against anything that ain’t stereotypically “non-conservative” or some shit. it’s a limiting, one-dimensional view of ESTJs
