Hello there. I've been typing as INFJ for a while, but sometimes I just feel unsure of my type, especially since I came out of depression, which shows my 'true self' now. I'd love some insight, if you will.

1. I always want the best for other people, and often advise them. However, I let them know I'm not here to tell them what to do, nor who to hang out with. I live and let live, even if their choices bother me. I try my best to make them happy too, especially when I love them.

2. I'm easily stressed out, but I remain surprisingly calm. I've been described as "peaceful" and "detached" by a lot of people, though I'm muuuuch less put-together than I appear to be.

3. I'm often overwhelmed by the physical world. I can't eat too sweet/spicy/salty stuff because I feel the taste as aggressive, I can't tolerate loud noise, neither can I stand bright lights, or strong smells.

4. I'm a little bit reckless, but very careful at the same time. I won't walk on the road, but I'll wander at night, or climb up rocks.

5. I'm not good with school at all. The methods don't work on me. The best way for me to learn something is to use it right away. I usually observe a lot before actually doing things. I can't process the overload of useless information when I know only ten percent will benefit me in the long run.

6. I have that "doorslam" thing. I will tolerate, tolerate, tolerate, until the last straw will break the camel's back, and I'll just disappear from your life silently and suddenly, and it can be pretty unsettling for people. Last time I did it, I didn't speak to my friends for a month because I didn't feel supported and respected by them. They definitely knew they had fucked up, and despite coming back to them, I don't feel as good around them as I used to.

7. I'm very gifted at arts, whether it's painting, drawing, writing, photography or music, though the latter is harder for me. I have a love for theater and plays, but I'm not much of a movie watcher.

8. I like video games, but I won't say I'm a gamer. I just use them to pass the time, or to take my mind off things. I barely care about memes or YouTubers.

9. I have a thing for astrology, tarot, crystals, things like that. However, I'm not much an admirer of religion, and I consider myself only "spiritual", though I go to church from time to time to light up a candle and ask Jesus to protect me, or to protect my loved ones, or ensure something will go fine.

10. I love traveling the world with a companion by my side. I don't need tons of friends, nor do I need a cheesy romance. I just need a lifelong companion I can trust and care for, while they still can care for themselves. I love my independence, but I love companionship too.

If you've got any extra questions, tell me. Thank you.

You're probably a INFJ, although you didn't really detail any habits, or goals, so I'm really just going on a whim. Can you tell me more about how your mind works, rather than your personal preferences? Your enneagram definitely seems like 9w1 in my opinion, though. INFJ 9w1 would make sense, 9w1 being the third most likely ennea for INFJ.

      how does your mind work?

Right, guys, I'm going to tell you how my mind works.

My goal is to make my life an art piece. I want to form lifelong bonds with people, see all the things I can see, and get behind the processes of life. Seeing how everything falls beautifully into place, and how wonderful this world can be. People are usually darn negativistic, and I somewhat want to prove them wrong. I want to show them the world can be beyond their imagination, and that life can be even better than a dream. My life dream is to own an RV and to travel the world with my loved one by my side, while writing books and making art. And I'm definitely making sure it's going to go from theory to practical. I've met the right person, I've tested her on a 3-day-trip, and I definitely enjoy traveling with her. From 3 days I'll go to 1 week, then 2, then a full month. That way, I can definitely test the waters better.

For how my mind works, I get symbols out of nowhere, and I feel like I'm playing guesses with my subconscious. Sometimes, a symbol (like anchors, lighthouses, a certain flower or plant, or a colour, things like that) will pop into my mind, and I'll see it everywhere, think about it, and after some time, I finally get what it was. I'll give you a fun little story. Around the time I met the person I want to travel all life long with, I got a lighthouse in mind. I couldn't stop drawing lighthouses, nor could I stop thinking about them. Then, right before we spend our first weekend together, I had an anchor popping into my mind. I now know that the lighthouse was a way to tell me "hey, you've found the right one, you're going home babe!", and the anchor says "I'm casting my anchor. Now I won't move around anymore.". People often don't get my symbolic way of seeing things, but I'm fine with it. Symbols make my life as it is, and I'm happy with it.

I also can't make up things solely out of my mind. I always have to find some "inspiration" in reality, I always have to base off my characters from people, or the places from places I know, because I just can't seem to completely make up things. I have to have a foot on earth and the other one in the water, if you see what I try to say.

Thank you. I hope this helps.

After reading that I have no doubt that you're INFJ (the symbolism in your thought process screams high Ni, along with wanting to see how "everything beautifully falls into place"), and I agree with the others about 9w1. Also I hope your dream works out!

strawberry crisis, I don't really get your comment. Everyones mind works in a certain way, I'd tell you about mine, but you're comment is redundant. Maybe I didn't phrase it right for you, but Kudryavka seemed to understand it.

    Hello Kudryavka.

If I was typing you by Enneagram, I would guess type 9, as the descriptors “peaceful” and “detached” apply strongly to them. The “doorslam” phenomenon is also common among 9s. I would encourage you to read up on 9w8 and 9w1 to see if you relate more to one. sealed

Talking MBTI...9 isn’t the most common type among INFJs, but according to one survey about 10% are. I’m not 100% sure your self-description supports that test result, but some of what you mentioned sounds like inferior Se to me. (The rock climbing, the overwhelming sensory experiences.)

I find the instinctual variants just as useful as MBTI and basic type go...what would you say is the thing you care about the most/least? (Note: If you reply “I dunno, I kind of care about all of them, but not a whole lot,” then I’ll be far more certain that you’re a 9. wink

    1. Being physically comfortable and healthy.
    2. Being intensely stimulated by your hobbies and close relationships.
    3. Being a part of organized social groups.

Thank you for your answer, mate!

I'd say, I care more about feeling physically healthy, then stimulated by close relationships. I don't care much about organized social groups, as there seems to be a lot of drama all the time, and I generally leave them. A bit of drama is nice for me, but only for 5 minutes or so.

Excellent. From that information, Enneagram is 9w1, sp/sx.  I imagine a 9w8 would enjoy drama a bit more.
