7w6 are very soft and jittery and insecure, 8w9s are more chill imo

    source: I am a 7w6 and I have 8w9 friends

8w9. The 9 wing adds insecurity to the 8 core and 7s aren't insecure in the slightest.

but the 6 wing adds a insecurity and self awareness to the 7. They are more aware of their fears and insecurities and compulsively run away from them until they finally catch up to them and they struggle to come to terms with them. They’re also notoriously clingy but detached at the same time and tend to have relationship and financial problems when upset, which further adds to their insecurity. They also tend to be EXFPs which since Fi, tend to be more consumed by their low self esteem.

I don't know what about needing security makes 6s insecure since it doesn't effect their self esteem.

Running away from things sounds very 7 or 9.

The point is the 9 wing feels insignifcant and the 6 wing isn't. 7s and 8w7s are the types with the highest self esteem out there.

Yea, I get the point, I don’t need it explained it that much depth. I simply came to a different conclusion than you. Insignificance isn’t the only cause of low self esteem. Like I explained on the other entry, I feel plenty significant and important yet suffer from paralyzingly low self esteem. From my in depth research in the enneagram and my personality experience, I find it hard to believe that an 8w9 would be more susceptible to low self esteem than the people pleasing, approval hungry 7w6. And yes, if a 6/6-winger is unhealthy, naturally they will require lots of reassurance and stability from an outside source, thus being vulnerable to low self esteem because they can not obtain security and stability from within. I’ve experienced this with a former friend who is a 6w7. He constantly needed my reassurance that he wasn’t terminally ill or that his girlfriend wouldn’t leave him or that our boss wouldn’t fire him, etc. The fears caused him anxiety yes, but his sense of self also deteriorated because he felt that he needed other people to ease his tension and was frequently frustrated by it. I have a 7w6 cousin who oscillates from being an independent, life of the party to constantly fretting about his mother dying or that his friends will drift apart from him. He requires tons of affection and approval and constantly needs to entertain the crowd to boost his ego. I acknowledge that 8w9s can very well suffer from low self esteem, but I don’t believe to the point that 7w6s suffer.

      *in, not it

It's hard for you to believe because you probably focusing more so on the 8 core and not the 9 wing. 8w9 is totally different to 8w7 and 7w8s readily appear to have more outward aggression due to the 9 wing's numbing.

I’m taking the 9 wing’s impact into account, but at the end of the day an 8 is still an 8 and will react like an 8 and be motivated by the 8’s core drives and values. The 9 wing’s numbing can cause the 8 to experience low self esteem as you’re explaining, but can also cause the 8 do dissociate and avoid these feelings. Then again, you can argue that since the 7 is prone to escapism via fantasy or action, they may too be unaware of these feelings of low self esteem. Ultimately it’s too close to call, generally speaking. I just gave the 7w6 the edge based on my experiences with them.
